Our cow hunts are 3 days fully guided with lunch provided. So the main difference between the two is price one is reduced and one is. The hunts MUST be booked at the same time. Wyoming residents are not able to obtain preference points for deer elk and antelope. Each hunter saves 400.00 The same dates, accommodations, food, & licenses as above. You and your hunting buddy must stay in the same room and use the same guide (2 on 1 hunt). Not included is your travel to camp, license fee, meat processing, taxidermy, and gratuity for your guide and cook. Cow elk hunts are conducted on private property with a mix of public ground. Buddy Hunt: Book 2 antlerless elk hunts at the same time, one for you and one for your hunting buddy. Both of these hunts are fully guided 5 day hunts with lodging and meals provided, field care of your trophy, and transportation in the field. However, the general deer season will be open that same. If you have a type 4, I would hunt high earlier in the season, but you could probably find elk throughout the whole area in early October. These are 100% free range, fair chase hunts with no high fences. If you have a type 6, good luck since most of the public land is off limits, unless you archery hunt in September. The terrain is about 4800 ft elevation with deep canyons and Ponderosa pines that come down into hay meadows and creek bottoms that are frequented by the the elk in the mornings and evenings. This is an area that requires 4 to 5 preference points for a non-resident to draw a tag but that being so, there are some large trophy bulls to be had with low hunting pressure due to a lot of private ground and limited hunters in the area. We have approximately 8,000 acres of private ranches leased to hunt in this area. They are 2 day hunts yielding success rates on either side of 90, although 2020 was 48 cows for 50 hunters, for a 96 success rate. (Hint- that means there are too many elk there) These hunts take place from December into late February. The Area 117 hunt will be the last 2 weeks in October. One very nice thing he offers is a sure thing license- because he gets damage permits. We do also harvest cow elk through the end of October. We intend to only take 300+ inch or bigger bulls. The bulls that have been taken from the ranch in the last few years have been in the 320+ class, most in the 340 to 370 class, with the largest bull scoring 383 in. Our hunts are guided 2-x-1, and 1-x-1 hunts can be arranged for an additional fee. In order to maintain quality in the herd, we will only allow a small number of mature bulls to be harvested from the ranch each year. We offer fully guided elk hunts with both rifle and bow. The terrain is fairly rugged with deep canyons and Ponderosa pine trees. In addition, the highest elevation that we will hunt is 4100 ft. Area 129 allows the use of a bow as well as a rifle during the rut which makes it a very rare opportunity to harvest some great bulls. The bulls will be bugling and in the rut at this time and will be an exciting 5 (five) day hunt. This will be a call in/spot and stalk type hunt on foot.
